Gus Avila is a film and television writer whose work has garnered recognition from the Nicholl Fellowships, Sundance Institute, The Black List and other industry organizations. Most recently, his feature screenplay, The Lost Ones, was selected to participate at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival’s Maison des Scénaristes, the only U.S. entry participating in the workshop.

Gus has twice been selected a screenwriting fellow with the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) and is an alumnus of Film Independent’s Project:Involve, where he was mentored by award-winningproducers Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa. Prior to embarking on a writing career, he spent several years as a development executive for Paramount Pictures, HBO Films and Starz/Encore.

Gus is currently a member of the WGA’s Latino Writers Committee, while continuing to develop several film and television projects. He hails from East Los Angeles and is a graduate of UCLA where he earned his degree in English Literature.
